Flooded Plain Series
The flooded plain series was designed around a central theme: the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul and is the result of two years of research and development of the pieces.
As a general line of our work, we seek to read Manoel de Barros' poetry as a starting point. In the exhortation of the simple way of living, as opposed to modernity and its values that is seen in the poet's work, we also saw the beauty of our state's culture, which despite its economical potential stubbornly rejects cosmopolitanism.
Based on this direction, we thought of ways that valued the dream and abstraction opposing the widespread purpose of being extremely synthetic and limiting visual information to the maximum.
Many of the series' sinuous shapes have been transplanted almost literally from the shapes of the region.
Bird beaks, water and vegetation were relocated in another context.
The flooded plain series was chosen as the first of our studio in order to honor pantanal peoples culture and celebrate its way of being and living.
